Dr. Frandsen offers wire braces for patients of all ages, though it is important to note that braces are most effective when placed at an early age. This is because the jaw and bone tissue surrounding the teeth are more malleable in children and can be molded as they grow. Regardless of the patient's age, traditional braces are the most affordable way to achieve a straight smile. Adults who need to have their teeth straightened are often deterred by the thought of wearing wire braces. With Invisalign®, however, adults can straighten their teeth without the conspicuous appearance of traditional braces. Virtually imperceptible, Invisalign® aligners are worn over the teeth to reposition them gradually. The custom-fit aligners are replaced about every two weeks with a new set as the patient's teeth shift into place. In as little as six months to a year, patients are able to have straight, even smiles. During treatment, the aligners can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing, which means that patients are able to eat most foods and maintain their customary oral health regimen. Regular check-ups over the course of treatment allow Dr. Frandsen to monitor progress from start to finish.
